Top 5 Pioneers of Extravagent Fashion

No1. Alexander McQueen

Alexander Mcqueen’s use of his imagination and shock tactics often caused controversy. Having worked on Savile Row and as head designer for Givenchy his work was always immaculately made. He was widely known for his unusual material choices and extravagant designs. 

No2.  Lady Gaga 
Often controversial Lady Gaga is the most over the top dresser in the music industry. She always wears weird and creative clothes and is never seen wearing anything less. Influences from Lady Gaga can be seen everywhere from the hoof heeled shoes to giant bows in women’s hair. 

No3. Dior
Christian Dior was founded in 1946 and throughout its 65 years has been at the top of fashion. With designers such as Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan and john Galliano the brand has continued to use extravagant but sophisticated designs. 

No4. Vivienne Westwood
Known for her punk inspired designs Vivienne Westwood has become one of the most well-known and eccentric British designers. She is credited for bringing punk fashion into the mainstream in the 1970’s when she designed clothes for a shop in London. Her first catwalk was in 1981 and has since had exhibitions in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the National Gallery of Australia.

Issey Miyake uses inspiration from technology to create new and interesting clothes. The Japanese designer uses new technologies in fabric to create different effects in his designs including architectural elements. The brand has been steadily expanding since 1970 and now has 8 lines of clothing, perfume and accessories.
