The world's most expensive bag


A crocodile skin Birkin Hermes bag has become the most expensive bag ever sold at auction. The bag, which has diamond detailing, was sold for £129,987 in an auction in Dallas, Texas. The Birkin bag was originally inspired by the actress and singer, Jane Birkin and was first designed in 1984. They are now some of the world’s most coveted bags and the cost begins at around £3,000. At one point there was a 6 year waiting list to buy one of these bags which is the longest in history.

Valentino's Virtual Museum


Valentino Garavani has launched a virtual museum, The Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum, earlier this week. This is the first museum of its kind and offers a virtual tour through the highlights of the designer’s career. It will show over 300 of is designs from the inspiration and first sketches to the final garment and who wore them, as well as stars in Valentino on the red carpet, and some of the best advertising campaigns and editorials. Gareth Pugh for MAC



Gareth Pugh, the designer known for his dark, imaginative fashion shows, has been collaborating on a beauty range with MAC, the make-up giant. In the collection there will be nail lacquers, graphic false lashes, lipsticks, creamy eye-shadows, beauty powders and a make-up bag available in a mix of gray, black, nude, dark purple and dark blue. The collection has been in the works for 2 years but finally arrives today!

Awards Time!

It’s that time of year again! The British Fashion Awards took place at the weekend in London's Savoy Hotel to celebrate this year’s influential and new design talent. Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen took Designer of the Year Award while Victoria Beckham took the Designer Brand Award. Other winner included Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane, model Stella Tennant and Alexa Chung. Another winner was Paul Smith who got the BFA Outstanding Achievement Award.

Swan Alert!


Swan headpieces were all the rage at Giles S/S 2012 RTW show! The designer said his inspiration for the over the top accessories was the photographer Cecil Beaton’s work and the Silver Swan automation which dates back to the 18th century and is housed in the Bowes Museum in England. The look was paired with striped back, natural make-up, flowing skirts, elegant lace and swan printed fabric.
